During the social closed period of covid in 2020, and following on from an earlier community activity, James Lyall with the permision of the Brough golf course covered the full area with a magnatometer to explore what lies beneath and to try and find the lost road out of Petuaria leading to York/Eboracum.
The results showed up some interesting items both modern and historical.

We are very lucky with the project that we are able to envisage the enormity of the Roman occupancy of Petuaria as finds are frequent and on mass giving us an idea of what life was like, what they ate and the pottery they used.
it is rich in historical value and information, and that’s as far as its richness goes as nothing that could be classed as valuable has been found. Coins are plentiful but of a small denomination except the odd silver denarius, fing or brooch.
Below community volunteers hard at work.
