Brough is thought to be Petuaria, mentioned by an ancient writer Ptolemy as the tribal centre of the Parisi, the people who lived in East Yorkshire in the Roman period. It now forms part of the villages/town of Elloughton cum Brough. Although the helmet in our logo, devised many years ago by the Parish Council is somewhat inaccurate in terms of Roman headgear, it reflects continued pride in our ancient heritage.
