As Petuaria developed into the settlement we believe it was it went through a number of phases. One of those phases saw the evolution of a port where national and international goods were landed on their way North but where was it.

During an excavation during 1978/9 in a garden down Cave Rd building foundations were found which could be attributed to those of a port. This mindset is based on the topography of the surrounding area, and the style of finds during the 70’s.

During 2024 we were able, with a grant from Hull City Councils Martime Museum fund, able to start searching further in the gardens down Cave Road, this  time using non destructive GPR (Ground penetrating radar) giving us phenominal results.

The project continues.
